Leading up to International Woman's Day, a key event is happening in Hull giving people the chance to speak directly with Europe.

The ‘Making Europe Work for Women' conference is being held on Friday 6^th March at Hull City Hall and is part of a UK wide exercise to celebrate and encourage women to achieve their full potential.

The conference will address what women need and want from Europe in relation to business support, lifestyles, well-being, mobility and security.

The event, organised by Yorkshire Women Entrepreneurs (YWE) network, has attracted some top profile speakers including Dr Richard Corbett, MEP for Yorkshire and Humber and Chief Inspector David Fortune. Delegates will have the opportunity to talk directly with Dr Corbett over lunch and in an open discussion following his talk. The Lord Mayor of Hull, Elaine Garland, is opening the event.

Maureen Forbes OBE, who heads up YWE, said: "We are really excited about being able to host such an important event for our region. It is the first of its kind in this area, and we already have a high number of delegates on the day."

The conference has two main aims - to record local opinion on the way we learn about European issues and the relevance to our lives in the Yorkshire and Humber region - and to send feedback back to Brussels to help shape the future and secure support that is specifically needed in our area.
